The Importance of Being Attentive to Social Processes in School Bullying Research: Adopting a Constructivist Grounded Theory Approach

Abstract School bullying is a complex social phenomenon in need of further exploration regarding its connections to contextual aspects, group norms, and societal structures. This calls for research approaches that can get closer participants’ experiences the different processes involved school bullying. One such approach constructivist grounded theory (CGT) approach, which aims be attentive main concerns through both analysis data collection. comes as theory-method package with use symbolic interactionism perspective. In this paper, I will show how CGT package, well sociology childhood, has been helpful my on (focusing structures, processes). More specifically, give examples from whole process, e.g., maintaining focus concerns, coding being guided by sensitizing concepts, addressing issues justice equity — overall forming theoretically ethically prepared researcher role. also suggest dealing ethical theoretical challenges when researching topics known negatively affect people’s lives wellbeing context makes it difficult participants address victimizing positions, processes.
